Well, I guess with my return piece of art finished, it’s time for me to write a little bit about it now that I can breathe easy for a little while. This time around, I decided to go with Prince Mana again. The reason? She always captures the mood that I’m striving for with perfection and she isn’t charging an arm and a leg with her bribe prices. It also helps that she’s one of the friendlier artists on Gaia, too.
The characters I decided to go with this time around are Kazuo and Yuuta. I don’t really get to use Kaz as much as I would like these days but it was a spur of the moment birthday idea for someone and I’m glad I did it. Even though I did pay Insane Caboose a shitload of gold when the characters were first created, it’s nice to have a high quality shot of the couple. I loved the fact that she didn’t get all lazy with the tattoos like some other artists that I’ve bought art from in the past. I’ve only allowed her to see Yuuta’s hand as a little glimpse of her gift. Of course, she’s asking me when she can see it every five minutes but I don’t mind.
Before I had the chance to mention that I was having something made for her birthday, she said something about a gift for me, as well. Obviously, it’s going to be a cookie jar full of homemade Peanut Butter Cup cookies that I love so much. I think she made some for me in..August and by the end of the weekend, I had already finished every single one. It would’ve been smart to wait for some milk but I’m sure someone else enjoys cookies and soda like I do.
Getting back on the subject of art and why I enjoy it so much. The main reason I started my art collection is due to the fact that I know I’m not going to be on Gaia forever even though it seems that way. The lasting memories from the frame of mind that I was in when I received certain pictures will always be there. For example, the first piece of art I received was done pqus in 2004. I was in the 10th grade and extremely afraid about my future and if I was going to go to college or not. Looking back on it, I think it was funny because I’m taking things in stride and not stressing over stuff from the past or distant future. Also, that pqus art ranks in my top five because it was a high quality piece for 20k.
Another artist that I’m very happy about commissioning so many pieces from would be Tirael. She was slow as molasses but she would always have these random conversations with me about apple pie AND she created wicked shots of Abraxas and Souta. I’d like to think that I don’t have a lot of original characters but apparently I do. I got a lot of use out of Souta but Abraxas really didn’t get much play. But I did hook up that bitching piece for him and Gregger by bitterondine before his prices went up. So with that being said, I think that I'm going to continue to bulk up on art even though it's going to be a challenge finding quality art for fair prices but I'm up for it.
I'll end this by saying that I'm happy that the weekend is finally here. After Tuesday, I can breathe easy with Cisco 1 behind me and Cisco 2 starting up. Now it's time for me to hop on this Bayonetta demo to see if I like it~
